Before you read this, please know that I will not include my personal opinion on the situations that have occurred in his life. I don't know him and you don't either. This review is solely on the song Crawl.
<br />'Crawl' is Chris Brown's second single from his upcoming album 'Graffiti' set for a December 8th release. This song, produced by The Messengers(a production/writing team), is a mid-tempo ballad with a pop vibe. The lyrics of the song tells a story of a love lost and the pleading of a reunion between the two lovers. The sincerity of the lyrics are phenomenal, and the music is well produced. This is just a good song and really could have been sung by a Mario, Usher, etc. This was a great choice for a single and if you appreciate good music of all kinds, you may wanna look into this.

With the domestic violence hardship that both Rihanna & Chris Brown have gone through, it seems very sad that neither of them have made a great attempt with their music. Rihanna's Rated R hasn't been a very strong-seller, and Chris Brown has had left so many questions left unanswered from the whole argument in the spotlight. Well, his music isn't going to make up either with Crawl, the first single from his album Grafitti. The songs tends to lend a mixed bag, as a pleading of forgiveness. Yet, it doesn't feel like it drives the point home. I wasn't very surprised with the song at all. Hopefully, Chris will have better luck with the album, but it honestly isn't going to do him well with his image he has to really makeup for in the spotlight.

"Crawl" is relatively up-beat, with an overall hopeful sort of tone. That being said, the song doesn't really stand out as being particularly different from any other song on the radio. As has already been mentioned, it sounds very similar to other songs done by Mario, Usher, etc. It also has an overall tone of "seeking for forgiveness", a theme that he would probably have been better off avoiding. Considering his past issues of domestic violence, the lyrics make an otherwise up-beat song come across as a bit creepy.

If you like power pop at all, grab this CD immediately. The sound is a mix of Beach Boys harmonies and whispered vocals (ala Elliot Smith or Nick Drake) over music that combines Paul Simon's acoustic beauty with XTCish songwriting and Jellyfish-like production. The result is beautiful, bordering on ornate yet still emotional and intimate. Buy this album: it gets better and better with repeated listening.

Every once in a while an album pops up out of nowhere and rips your guts out. This is such an album. Songwriter, melodist, lyricist, producer, singer, multi-instrumentalist and more, Chris is all of these things and has the touch. Fans of Beatles, Beach Boys, XTC, Stackridge, Tears for Fears, Pearlfishers, Badfinger, Nada Surf, Death Cab, Rogue Wave, Heart Strings, Bee Gees, Beep Seals, Wondermints, Pugwash, Terrene, Owsley, Jeff Lynne, Milk and Honey Band, Miracle Fortress, Earlimart, Posies, Guster, Boat People, Annuals, Silver Seas, Caribou, Fountains of Wayne etc etc etc grab this at once!! Life charging stuff, this will be stuck in your CD player and in your brain and heart for a long time. Hot damn!

Chris has proved he can make a huge comeback after all that has went down. teaming up with Wayne & swizz for his first single was a sure way to make a great hit and chart topper.

This is the type of song you hear at first, and it is so different from anything you've ever heard before, that it takes you by surprise. What's great about it is, Chris releases these electric first singles that gets everyone amped for the album, but each time the songs differ. "Run It", "Wall to Wall"/"Kiss Kiss" and "I Can Transform Ya" give you that same feeling; like you just wanna get up and dance.
<br />
<br />Chris Brown really delivers the verses, I was engaged from his first verse, I think that is what makes the record so great:
<br />
<br />"Need a ride I can Range you up, money I can change you up, you can ride your own, no longer be the passenger. Swag low I'll build you up, knees weak I'll stand you up, red lips, red dress, like 'em like a fire truck." [Favorite verse]
<br />
<br />The production on this is phenomenal, it actually sounds like a machine generating in the background which goes very well with the lyrical content of wanting to "transform". I think Swizz Beats did an excellent job, he always produces the best records for Chris, e.g. "I'll Call Ya" which was a highlight from the 'Exclusive' album.
<br />Now I always feel a certain way about rappers on the majority of tracks, and the feeling is simply...they don't need to be there. I'm not a fan of Lil Wayne and there is nobody on this planet that can convince me he is better than...hmmm let's say 'Nas'. Anywho, the lyrics were smart and went along with the song, but I would have preffered to hear more from Chris e.g. Maybe a bridge or something.
<br />
<br />I am an avid fan of Chris' music and this is a winner. I have listened to his music since the get-go and will continue to do so. I think this was a great opener for the 'Graffiti' album and I cannot wait to hear more. He has a great voice, so I am looking forward to the follow up single "Crawl".

I have been trying to get over the infamous incident and allow Chris Breezy to get his act together and prove himself worthy again. I am still not totally there; however, CB did it with this one. This is one hot jam. At least when I listen to this jam, I have been transformed to accepting him back on the scene. I can rock wit this all night!!! Can't wait for the full album drops. LOVE IT!!!!
